Media Credibility Slides, Local TV Fares Best
The believability ratings for local TV news are higher than those for the three cable news outlets. Currently, 65% give local news a rating of 3 or 4. Since 2002, credibility ratings for local TV news have remained more stable than have ratings for the three main cable news outlets.
The association says the report which said cable was the top regular source of election news should win the “Fuzzy Math Prize of the Year.”
A majority of Americans believe news organizations favor one side when reporting the news, while some 80% felt that news outlets were influenced by powerful people and organizations, according to a new study from the Pew Research Center.
