CBS Renews ‘Code Black,’ 3 Other Shows
CBS has renewed freshman drama series Code Black and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders for a second season, as well as sophomore comedy The Odd Couple for a third season and reality show Undercover Boss for an eighth season. As expected, the list does not include freshman drama Limitless though CBS has not made its cancellation official. Also not on the list and fully expected to be canceled is new midseason action comedy Rush Hour.
After weeks of rumor and speculation, the CBS-Warner Bros owned network confirmed they are picking up the DC comic book adaptation starring Melissa Benoist for a second season, after its freshman season ran on CBS.
Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution gives the green light for more of the panel-talk show, renewing it through 2017-18 season.
Fox has renewed Gotham for a third season, the network announced Wednesday. The Batman prequel series, currently in its second season, will also add actor Paul Reubens for a guest arc beginning March 21.
The Ellen DeGeneres-produced game show has scored an early pickup after airing only two episodes.
The CW has taken the suspense out of series renewals this season by picking up all 11 of its current scripted series — the 10 that are now on the air, plus returning Reign. The only renewal decision the network will have to make in May will be on midseason drama Containment, which will not premiere until April 19.

NCIS star and executive producer Mark Harmon has closed a new two-year deal with CBS TV Studios, the studio behind the hit CBS drama. With Harmon on board, the veteran crime procedural has been renewed for two seasons, matching Harmon’s deal term.
NBC has given an early renewal to midseason comedy Superstore starring America Ferrera. The comedy joins breakout fall drama Blindspot and solid new Chicago addition Chicago Med as the freshman NBC series that have already secured Season 2 pickups.
Candi Carter, who served as interim showrunner, has been promoted to executive producer, effective immediately.
The long-running syndicated courtroom series has gotten the green light through 2019.
Days Of Our Lives, which marked its 50th anniversary this season, has been renewed for next season, which will be the long-running daytime drama’s 51st. The pickup, which may include an option for an additional year, keeps NBC in the daytime soap game as Days is the last remaining afternoon drama on its schedule.
The heavily time-shifted cop drama will see a second season on NBC.
Thirty years into his tenure at Universal Television, Dick Wolf continues to be the studio’s top drama producer. And now Wolf, who accomplished the rare feat of creating two hugely successful drama franchises — Law & Order and Chicago — is extending his stay with a new blockbuster deal. The five-year pact with NBCUniversal, which will keep Wolf at the company through 2020, came after months of negotiations.
‘Paternity Court’ Gets Two More Years
The syndicated court show Lauren Lake’s Paternity Court has been guaranteed two more seasons. The show — distributed by Orion Television and cleared in 85% percent of the U.S. — debuted in 2013, shot in Los Angeles. It moved to Atlanta for season two in 2014.
