Sean Atkins is stepping down as president of MTV a little over a year after joining the network. Atkins opted to leave when Viacom Music and Entertainment Group President Doug Herzog, to whom he reports, informed him of a plan to bring in an executive over him.
MTV might be signaling a move in digital direction with the appointment of veteran digital media executive Sean Atkins as MTV president. He replaces Stephen Friedman, whose exit was announced a short time ago. Atkins will report to Doug Herzog, president of Viacom Music and Entertainment Group.
