An upcoming episode of NBC’s family sitcom The Carmichael Show will air an unedited racial slur when the series returns for its third season this summer. The racial slur “nigger” will be heard rather than the euphemism “the N-word,” says its star and creator, comedian Jerrod Carmichael, who spoke to reporters about the decision Monday at an NBC press event in Beverly Hills, Calif.
NBC has given a second-season order to summer comedy series The Carmichael Show, while canceling its other freshman summer comedy Mr. Robinson.
NBC has moved the premiere of the new comedy, created by and starring stand-up comedian Jerrod Carmichael, from Aug. 5 to Aug. 26, the network announced Friday.
