Jones’ stand-in as host on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday on the Comedy Central topical show yields to four more upcoming weekly gigs by comedians: Wanda Sykes, D.L. Hughley, Chelsea Handler and Sarah Silverman.

The comedian gave a tearful goodbye to his fans in his final address at the desk, thanking everyone who has ever watched the Comedy Central show and giving particular praise to Black women for their support.

Sources close to the show note that execs will meet with the outgoing host to set a date for his departure as talks for a replacement will not begin until after he is properly celebrated.

The host, who took over for Jon Stewart in 2015, told the audience Thursday, “My time is up.” Although he did not specify a timeline for how soon he would leave, he made it clear it would not happen immediately and that details were still be ironed out. “I’m not disappearing — don’t worry. If I owe you money, I’ll still pay you,” Noah quipped.

Host Trevor Noah will bring Comedy Central’s latenight comedy series The Daily Show back to the studio tonight, for the first time since March of 2020. Noah had been hosting the show (renamed The Daily Social Distancing Show) from his apartment ever since New York City first shut down in the early weeks of the pandemic. However, The Daily Show will be leaving the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood in Manhattan (where it has originated since Craig Kilborn hosted the program), and move to parent company ViacomCBS’s corporate headquarters in Times Square.

Comedy Central’s latenight franchise will go from a half-hour to 45 minutes each night starting Monday. The expansion is the first in the show’s 24-year history. The change comes as the show has found an increased audience and a number of high-profile bookings during the coronavirus pandemic.
