The network said Monday it is constructing a giant hourglass-shaped structure in Manhattan for The Million Second Quiz, which will involve contestants testing their trivia skills over a million seconds, or 11 days, 13 hours, 46 minutes and 40 seconds.
Between Fox’s American Idol, ABC’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and now NBC’s Million Second Quiz, Ryan Seacrest will be hosting shows on three of the four major broadcast networks.
NBC this fall will be mounting one of the most ambitious unscripted efforts ever attempted. The network has ordered The Million Second Quiz, a live competition that combines trivia knowledge and endurance. The contest, where time equals money, will last 1,000,000 seconds or 12 days with the possibility of a cash prize of up to $10 million.
