Diginets Hope To Boost Affil Counts In Miami
Multicast programmers will be at this month’s NATPE exhibition hoping to expand and improve their affiliate lineups. And their growing importance to the industry is reflected in the show’s scheduling of a panel dedicated to the business on Monday afternoon (Jan. 23) featuring representatives of Me-TV, Antenna TV and Live Well.
The diginet is unusual in that its content is tailored to each city where it’s carried. Each affiliate has its own playlist that reflects TheCoolTV’s research into the community’s musical tastes, favorite genres and hometown bands.
With the addition of Carlisle Media’s independent WBIN, the diginet boosts its U.S. coverage to 46%.
Multicast music channel TheCoolTV says that it has added Granite Broadcasting’s WMYD Detroit to its affiliate roster. The addition increases the channel’s coverage to 43% of U.S. TV homes, according to channel parent Cool Music Network LLC. Last week, the channel signed up KQSL San Francisco.
With the outlet in DMA 6, Chang Media’s KQSL, the multicast music network now reaches more than 44% of U.S. TV homes.
The agreement covering 10 of Newport Television’s 22 markets increases the music network’s reach to more than 45 million TV homes, nearly 40% of total homes.
