Gail Austin Named Senior Producer Of ‘Matter Of Fact With Soledad O’Brien’

Gail Austin has joined Hearst Media Production Group (HMPG) as senior producer on the HMPG weekly show Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien. She reports to Rita Aleman, the show’s executive producer.

Nationally syndicated public affairs news magazine Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien is averaging more than 1.1 million weekly viewers season-to-date for the 2022-2023 TV season, according to Hearst. HMPG and Sony Pictures Television, the show’s distributor, recently announced the show has been renewed for two more seasons in syndication, where it reaches 95% of U.S. TV households.

Austin joins HMPG from NPR, where she served for six years, most recently as deputy executive producer of NPR’s Morning Edition, and NPR’s popular podcast, Up First. The move marks a return for Austin to Hearst, where she worked for six years, most recently as a producer at Hearst Television’s Washington, D.C., News Bureau, before joining NPR. She began her broadcast journalism career at Hearst’s WGAL Lancaster-Harrisburg-York, Pa.

Austin holds a bachelor’s in broadcast journalism, with minors in political science and English, from Temple University.
