‘KIRO 7 News At 4’ To Launch In September

Cox Media Group’s CBS affiliate KIRO Seattle will debut a new weekday newscast at 4-5 p.m. KIRO 7 News at 4 will launch on Monday, Sept. 12, and air live on broadcast and streaming platforms. This new Monday-Friday newscast will lead into KIRO’s flagship 5-6:30 p.m. newscast.

KIRO said that with the addition of the 4 o’clock newscast, it will deliver an additional 260 hours per year of local journalism, breaking news and weather.

“KIRO 7 is focused on informing, entertaining and elevating our viewers and community,” said Pat Nevin, KIRO VP-GM. “Our commitment to in-depth, investigative journalism that benefits viewers in the greater Seattle area is the one reason KIRO 7 continues to be Seattle’s local news leader. As more local news viewers turn to KIRO 7, the timing is perfect to deliver more local news across all platforms.”

KIRO said this expansion will be supported by a larger newsroom. The station will also hire six new team members for the 4 p.m. newscast.
