Meteorologist Alfredo Valdes Joins ‘Noticiero Telemundo Arizona’

KTAZ (Telemundo 39 Phoenix) and KHRR (Telemundo 40 Tucson), part of NBCUniversal Local’s Telemundo Station Group, has named Alfredo Valdes named meteorologist for Noticiero Telemundo Arizona weekday morning newscasts and updates, beginning Monday, May 27.

An experienced weather forecaster, climatologist and scientific researcher, Valdez joins  from Biosoluciones y Ciencias México, where he worked to develop services and projects associated with adaptation and climate change.

“We are excited to welcome Alfredo to our Award-Winning La Autoridad en el Tiempo team,” said Noe Gonzalez, VP of news for Noticiero Telemundo Arizona. “His expertise in meteorology and dedication to public service will be invaluable as we continue to provide our viewers with the most accurate Spanish-language weather forecast in Phoenix, earned through WeatheRate en Español.”

Valdes started his career at the Provincial Meteorological Center of Ciego de Ávila in Cuba as a researcher and specialist in agricultural meteorology, synoptic and climatology. During that time, he informed communities how to combat and adapt to droughts. He broadcast from Ciego de Ávila, Cuba, on both radio and television, to raise awareness and highlight solutions.

Noticiero Telemundo Arizona is presented on KTAZ and KHRR Monday through Friday at 11 a.m., 4 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 5 p.m., and 10 p.m., and weekends at 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
