Michigan Press Association Cancels Convention Over COVID

On Tuesday, the Michigan Press Association issued the following statement:

“In light of concerns regarding COVID-19 and the Delta variant adversely impacting Michigan this fall, we have decided to cancel our Oct. 7 Fall Together event. If you are already registered, we will refund your registration fees and the hotel will refund your room reservation amount if you cancel within 72 hours of check-in.

“We are sad that we won’t be able to see our members and supporters, but we feel that we need to continue being part of the solution that gets us through this pandemic and holding a gathering might make us part of the problem.

“If you are still interested in meeting with your legislators, please contact [email protected] and she will help you arrange a meeting.

“MPA will continue to offer educational events for members on Zoom. If you have suggestions for topics of interest, please let us know.

“Finally, keep your eyes open for great auction items through a virtual auction coming soon that will benefit the MPA Foundation Scholarship Program.”
