WAGA Atlanta To Debut ‘Fox 5 News At 4:30 P.M.’

Fox-owned WAGA Atlanta will introduce Fox 5 News at 4:30 p.m. on March 30. The half-hour, weekday newscast will follow an hour of Judge Judy and precede the station’s Fox 5 News at 5 p.m. With this addition, WAGA will produce 12 hours of live, local news each weekday and 71 hours of local news per week.

Anchored by Christine Sperow, WAGA says the Fox 5 News at 4:30 p.m. “will provide a fast-paced roundup of the most critical news of the day, highlighting key local and national stories. The wide-ranging program will cover all topics pertinent to Atlanta and north Georgia residents, from politics and government, to health concerns, local events and breaking news.” Fox 5 Storm Team Chief Meteorologist David Chandley will provide weather updates throughout the newscast.

In addition, effective March 26, Sperow will co-anchor the Fox 5 News Edge, weekdays at 11 p.m., alongside Tom Haynes and contribute to the station’s Fox 5 News at 5 p.m. and Fox 5 News at 6 p.m. newscasts.

Sperow spent the last 11 years as the weekday morning anchor for WBTV Charlotte, N.C. Previously, she was an anchor and reporter for KLTV Tyler, Texas. Prior to that, Sperow was an anchor and reporter for WABG Greenville, Miss.

A graduate of The University of Georgia, she holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications.
