CBS Boston’s WBZ-TV’s longtime evening anchor Paula Ebben will join WBZ News Mornings on June 17 alongside co-anchor Chris Tanaka, ahead of a revamp of its morning show later this summer.
Ebben and Tanaka’s start to the day will feature more frequent weather updates with differentiated content to keep viewers informed and prepared for the day ahead. The new show will also introduce exclusive content, bringing segments such as “Question Everything” to the morning lineup.
Additionally, the morning show will feature a new segment inspired by CBS Mornings “Talk of the Table” offering discussions on trending topics and local stories. Levan Reid will also expand his “Levan Out Live” segment, taking viewers live on location to exciting events and activities happening every week across Greater Boston.
“We are thrilled to have Paula join the morning show as co-anchor. She is a lifelong New Englander and has been with WBZ for 21 years. She knows the region, the people and the local issues our communities face,” said Justin Draper, the station’s president and general manager. “She joins at a perfect time where the revitalized format of the morning show aims to enhance the viewer experience with a more interactive and dynamic approach, and we are confident that Paula and Chris will deliver.”
Ebben has been anchoring evening newscasts at the station for more than a decade and contributes to WBZ’s in-depth reporting on significant issues affecting the community. She reports regularly on Boston’s vibrant arts and theatre scene for WBZ’s weekly “In the Spotlight” segment. This new assignment is a return to a familiar timeslot for Ebben, who previously anchored WBZ’s morning news from 2004 to 2013.
Ebben has been honored with multiple awards throughout her career, including the prestigious 2014 Columbia DuPont Award and 2013 Peabody Award, as part of WBZ-TV’s team coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings, and the New England Emmy Award, recognizing her exceptional work in both news anchoring and reporting.
