WFLD Sets New Anchor Lineup For ‘Good Day Chicago’

Fox O&O WFLD Chicago will debut a new anchor lineup for its Good Day Chicago” morning show on Jan. 22. Anthony Ponce and Anita Blanton will anchor 4:30-7 a.m., followed by Brian Jackson and Natalie Bomke at 7-10. Ponce, Blanton, Jackson, and Bomke will contribute enterprise news content throughout all five and a half hours of Good Day Chicago” and Jake Hamilton will continue to deliver his signature entertainment and feature reports throughout the morning show.

In addition to the morning show changes, Sylvia Perez will transition to anchor Fox 32 News at Noon, and then co-anchor the station’s First At Four 4 p.m. newscast alongside Terrence Lee, with Tia Ewing maintaining her role as “Live Desk” reporter.

Lee will move to the “Live Desk” for Fox 32 News at 5 p.m. and Fox 32 News at 9 p.m., anchored by Dawn Hasbrouck and Scott Schneider.

Tina Nguyen will join the station as a sports anchor to report on all Chicago sports teams and contribute to the Sunday night Sports Zone show with Lou Canellis and Cassie Carlson.

Brian Jackson

Brian Jackson is a native Chicagoan, who has spent the last year as evening anchor at Fox-owned KCPQ Seattle. Prior to that, he was morning news anchor for WTXL Tallahassee, Fla. Previously, Jackson spent more than four years in Jacksonville, Fla., as a sports anchor and reporter for WJXT as well as a fill-in sports radio host. Before that, he was a digital media producer, MMJ and sideline reporter for Comcast SportsNet in Washington, D.C. Earlier in his career, Jackson held roles at SiriusXM, Traffic.com, Howard Today, WTTG Washington, WHBC Radio, and WGN-TV Chicago. A graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., Jackson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Most recently, Nguyen spent the last two years as a sports anchor and reporter at KTNV Las Vegas. Previously, she was weekend sports anchor for KYTX Tyler, Texas. Prior to entering local TV, she spent a year working for the NBA on their social and digital team as a content producer and publisher. A graduate of Texas A&M University, Nguyan holds a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications and media studies.

The station produces nearly 60 hours of original programming per week.
