WPBF West Palm Beach Launches ‘On The Record’ Community Affairs Program

Hearst-owned ABC affiliate WPBF West Palm Beach, Fla., will launch On the Record, a new half-hour community affairs program to air on Sundays at 10 a.m. beginning Sept. 24. Sunday’s premiere focuses on Florida’s current homeowner insurance crisis.

News Director Emily Thompson said: “Each Sunday, WPBF 25 will take a fresh approach to storytelling, devoting the time to cover relevant, in-depth topics with context and perspective. The show will also include important balanced political discussions, as well as meaningful conversations with local change-makers.”

WPBF 25 President-GM Caroline Taplett said: “All of the communities we serve are so diverse, and so are the issues that are most important to them. On the Record allows WPBF 25 News to dedicate even more time to critical topics impacting all the residents of South Florida. Our journalists are committed to telling compelling stories, addressing issues, and exploring solutions through significant conversations.”

WPBF evening anchor Todd McDermott and morning anchor Nathalie Pozo will anchor the new community affairs program. On the Record airs each Sunday at 10 a.m. after ABC’s This Week with George Stephanopoulos, followed by season 9 of The Matter of Fact with Soledad O’Brien at 10:30 a.m.

With the addition of this 30-minute show, WPBF now produces 50.5 hours of local news and programming per week.
