WPLG, Berkshire Hathaway’s ABC affiliate in Miami/Fort Lauderdale, is set to premiere a new show, SoFlo H2O, a completely locally-produced, outdoor lifestyle and entertainment show showcasing South Florida’s unique connection to the water that surrounds the area.
The premiere of SoFlo H2O is on Sunday, July 17, at 5:30 p.m. Other episodes of SoFlo H2O will air quarterly.
From boating to fishing, swimming to scuba diving or dining to dancing, you can do it all and much more on the water in South Florida.
And viewers will go right along to experience it with host, Olivia Rae. An avid outdoors lover, she is at home on the water and any activity you can do on it.
“Growing up in South Florida, I was always on the water and that definitely stands true today,” says Rae. “Whether you’re on the beach, out boating or sipping your favorite drink oceanside, you really can’t go wrong. South Florida is such a hot spot and I can’t wait to explore the lifestyle and dive into this unique adventure on SoFlo H2O.”
With a growing population of over 5 million people living in our tri-county area and the fact that South Florida is a destination location for outdoor water activities, there is a reason South Florida is the boating capital of the world. That reason is access! Access to the Atlantic Ocean, the Gulf of Mexico, the Florida Keys and the Everglades. And we’re a direct corridor to the Caribbean!
As of 2021 the boating industry alone account for 12.5 billion in economic output for our area.
And SoFlo H2O will showcase boating and so much more. SoFlo H2O is going to show all aspects of living in paradise and playing in the waters.
Viewers will learn how to protect this beautiful resource. SoFlo H2O will show how South Florida home owners design their homes around water and turn their back yards into water oasis that can rival Five Star resorts.
“We live in a tropical paradise with arguably the best weather in our nation and we’re surrounded by beautiful beaches, Islands and waterways that we all can enjoy year-round,” says Bert Medina, WPLG’s president. “SoFlo H2O is our way of celebrating our relationship to water and showing our community and viewers the seemingly endless opportunities, our lifestyle has to offer.”
