WAGA, the Fox O&O in Atlanta, leads all media outlets in Atlanta by about 8 million social media actions over the last six months according to data from audience insight firm Shareablee. WAGA has almost 22 million actions on social, 41% of the total engagement generated by the DMA (No. 10), with more than 53.8 million social actions. WAGA is also ahead in actions per post with 1,724.

Streaming Pioneer Roku Seeks $100M In IPO

Video streaming player pioneer Roku listed a $100 million fundraising target in a Friday regulatory filing. But that figure is likely to change after its investment bankers gauge the demand for its initial public offering of stock. Like many young tech companies, Roku is still unprofitable. Last year, it lost nearly $43 million on $399 million in revenue. Since its 2002 inception, Roku has amassed $244 million in losses.

Boston Paper Opposes Sinclair-Tribune

Sunday’s Boston Globe argued against the proposed merger on its editorial page. “Anyone who cares about the state of our democracy, then, should care about what’s happening with local television. And that makes right-leaning Sinclair Broadcast Group’s bid to acquire Tribune Media’s 42 television stations a matter of urgent concern. An expansion of that size isn’t in the public interest, and federal regulators should move to block it.

New MPAA Chief Aims To Be Diplomat

The job of MPAA chief has long been considered one of the toughest gigs in the entertainment business, even during the days of the late Jack Valenti, who ran the organization for four decades until he retired in 2004. British authorities have received yet more clarification from media regulator Ofcom on 21st Century Fox’s attempted takeover of Sky, with a decision on whether to refer the deal to competition authorities still pending. Despite having received the go-ahead in all other relevant territories where Sky operates, the deal has been bogged down by regulatory investigations and government indecision in the U.K.

Tronc Buying The New York Daily News

The paper’s owner, Mortimer Zuckerman, is selling the nearly 100-year-old tabloid it to Tronc, the publisher of The Los Angeles Times and The Chicago Tribune. The deal represents the end of an era for The News, which was long a voice for New York’s working class. It may also signal the end of the political influence of its owner, the real estate magnate Mortimer B. Zuckerman.
