Although most people do not go to Facebook intentionally seeking their news, it’s inevitable that the average user will stumble upon an article. Whether it’s credible or fake, that’s another story. So the value of news stations and journalists using Facebook to reach viewers is obviously invaluable. But what about other non-newsy social media? Snapchat, Instagram and Pinterest should not be ignored.

Fans of the noon newscast on Tegna’s NBC affiliate in St. Louis, KSDK — which apparently there were not enough of — will have to make do without that show from here on out. TVB today released “Hurricane Irma Media Usage” survey results. The survey was conducted by Research Now and showed residents overwhelmingly chose their local TV stations over all other media for storm coverage, with 85% of respondents using local TV news for critical information. On a daily average, Floridians spent the most time with local TV news during the weather emergency, with over five hours of viewing, while Hispanic viewers spent nearly six hours.

Since the Fox broadcast network abandoned many of its latenight aspirations after an ill-fated effort led by Chevy Chase ended in 1993, its stations have become home to syndicated comedies that air at 11:30 and have run the gamut from Seinfeld to 30 Rock.
