CW NAMES JOANNA KLEIN VP, DRAMA DEVELOPMENT

Former VP of development at Regency Television is now in charge of developing new drama series.

Joanna Klein has been named CW’s vice president, drama development.

In her new role, Klein will be involved with all aspects of developing new drama series for and will report to Thom Sherman, CW executive vice president, drama development.

 Previously, Klein was vice president of development and current programming at Regency Television, working on series including Thief and Windfall.

“From the moment I met Joanna, I knew she was someone with whom I wanted to work.  She’s a confident, funny, unflappable person as well as being a terrific executive with all the requisite attributes: great with material, a keen eye for talent, and well-liked and respected in the creative community,” said Sherman. “She’s a formidable presence who’ll be a tremendous asset to us as we try to continue attracting top creators to The CW.”

Prior to Regency, Klein was vice president of development and production at Lionsgate Television, where she was involved with such series as The Dead Zone and Weeds.  She joined Lionsgate as manager of TV series. Klein began her career in entertainment as a business planner at Touchstone Television.
