WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Access Hollywood’ Among Syndie Climbers

It was the only magazine to break into positive territory in the week ending Oct. 20. It rallied 7% to an 88-week high 1.5. The show also had the distinction of being the sole first-run strip to hit a new season high.

Boasting blockbuster numbers yet again in Season 24, Judge Judy achieved an even dozen weeks in a row at the top of the entire syndication household ratings chart with a dominant 6.3 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen in the session ending Oct. 20.

Judy, which has vanquished its court show competition for a remarkable 1,204 straight weeks, held its own despite preemptions for breaking news on the California wild fires in some markets, including No. 5 San Francisco and coverage of the Columbus Day parade in New York.

The only magazine to break into positive territory was Access Hollywood, which rallied 7% to an 88-week high 1.5. The show also had the distinction of being the sole first-run strip to hit a new season high.

The Kelly Clarkson Show and Tamron Hall, the two highest-profile newcomers, both refused to decline and continued to manhandle the season’s other rookies.

Clarkson racked up its second straight 1.4, snaring 1.9 million daily viewers. And Hall was firing on all cylinders, holding at its season high 1.0 with almost 1.3 million viewers each day.

Further back, Mel Robbins, the third member of the freshman talker class, was unchanged at a 0.4 with less than 500,000 daily viewers.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

On the new court show docket, Jerry Srpnger’s Judge Jerry continued to show its rivals no mercy with a steady first-place 0.9.

In other venues, Personal Injury Court and Protection Court stayed at 0.5 and 0.3, respectively.

The new game show competition completed its fifth frame with 25 Words or Less flat at a 0.9, while America Says slipped 14% to a 0.6.

On the veteran talk front, Dr. Phil finished first for the 163rd straight week, despite dipping 4% to a 2.3.

Live with Kelly and Ryan relinquished 5% to a 2.0, but still snatched second place for the 34th consecutive week.

Ellen DeGeneres was not far behind, picking up 6% to a 1.9.
