Byron Allen’s HBCU Go Kicks Off The 2023 College Football Season With Two Labor Day Weekend Games

Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group free-streaming digital platform, HBCU Go, a media provider for the nation’s 107 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), kicks off its 2023 college football season with two Labor Day weekend games including the “Chicago Football Classic” and “Carolina Classic.”  HBCU GO recently announced broadcast partnership deals with top HBCU sports conferences, including the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC), with more to come.

The first game of the season is the Chicago Football Classic featuring a showdown between Mississippi Valley v. Central State University from Soldier Field in Chicago, IL. The game will air live on Saturday, September 2nd at 4 p.m. ET on HBCU Go, in Chicago on WGN and on broadcast television stations throughout the U.S., as well as the CBS owned-and-operated duopoly stations in television markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Dallas, Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, Detroit, Sacramento, Miami, Tampa and Pittsburgh. On-air talent will include play by play by HBCU sports analyst Charlie Neal, color commentary by Jon Kelley, sideline reporting by Courtney Tate, and Nia Symone covering sights and sounds and up-close interviews from the field.

The second game of the season is the Carolina Classic featuring Shaw University vs. Benedict College from Charlie W. Johnson Stadium in Columbia, SC. This game will air live on Saturday, September 2 at 6 p.m. ET on HBCU Go’s sister network TheGrio Television Network and will replay on TheGrio Television Network and HBCU Go on Sunday, September 3 at 3:30 p.m. ET. The game will also feature the debut of HBCU Go’s new on-air personalities: sports analyst James Hadnot; color commentary by HBCU graduate and Super Bowl champion Antoine Bethea, plus weekly in-depth coverage from the sidelines with Lawrencia Moten, and Tykera Carter covering sights and sounds and up-close interviews from the field.
