Jennifer Copeland Moving To WBND South Bend Where She Will Anchor

Jennifer Copeland, a mainstay of local television news in Michiana, is moving to WBND (ABC57) news in South Bend to anchor the 5:00 P.M., 5:30 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. newscasts. Copeland joins the ABC57 news team after 15 years of reporting and anchoring the evening news elsewhere in South Bend.

“I’m thrilled to continue doing what I love in the community I love,” said Copeland in a station statement. “My daughters have grown up here and I’m so thankful for the beautiful balance ABC57 brings to my life. I get to be the kind of mom I want to be and work with a tremendously talented, experienced team. This is where I want to be.”

Copeland added: “Storytelling is my passion. I’m excited to show you ‘why’ I fall I love with the stories I tell. Discovering the ‘why’ in others is the most valuable and real part of any story. It’s a privilege to know it and share it.”

Copeland brings television news experience from several markets, including Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN, Charlotte, NC, Champaign, IL, and Cleveland, OH, but chose to move back to Michiana and has spent most of her career anchoring and reporting in South Bend.

“With a veteran news reporter like Jennifer joining Anchor Brian Conybeare and Chief Meteorologist Tom Coomes, ABC57 will have the most experienced anchor team in Michiana,” added station VP and GM, Aaron Ramey. “Jennifer’s years of experience in the market, along with that of Brian and Tom, who grew up in the area, will give viewers an insight into the community that no other station can. We are delighted she has decided to join our team.”

Copeland has won a number of reporting awards throughout her career. The Kent State University graduate is also a passionate advocate for mental health, which she will continue to champion at WBND, the station said.
