WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Judge Judy’ Keeps Collecting Viewers

The syndication leader turns in a new season high 7.1 in the week ending Nov. 10. And Judge Judy Sheindlin’s Hot Bench barreled ahead 10% to a new season-high 2.2, putting it second in courtrooms and No. 3 in syndication overall.

Courtroom phenom Judge Judy soared to a new season-high 7.1 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating and obliterated all competition, finishing first among every show on the chart for the 15th week in a row in the session ending Nov. 10. That was the syndication star’s strongest showing since May 19.

Another court show breaking into record territory for the season was Judge Judy Sheindlin’s Hot Bench, which barreled ahead 10% to a new season-high 2.2 and ranked as the No. 3 daytime show behind only Judy and Dr. Phil.

Also coming up big during the frame was Jeopardy with its Tournament of Champions featuring super contestant James Holzhauer. The game show rose 10% to a new season-high 6.7, but that was not enough to topple ratings champ Judy.

Among talk shows, Phil held steady at its previous season high 2.6 and led the category for the 166th straight week.

Live with Kelly and Ryan was on par with the prior week’s 2.1 and snared second-place honors for the 37th consecutive week.

In third place, Ellen DeGeneres decline 5% to a 1.9, while Wendy Williams slipped 7% to a 1.3.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Turning to the most closely watched newcomers, The Kelly Clarkson Show, which has already been renewed, and Tamron Hall, continued to hold their own at a 1.4 and a 1.0, respectively. Clarkson’s best market in the top 10 was Atlanta where it scored a 2.5 rating/9 share for the week at 10 a.m., up 56% from its year-ago time period average.

Hall was especially strong in Richmond, Va., where it surged 63% from what its time slot did last November to 2.6/7.

Back in the national ratings, a third freshman chat fest, Mel Robbins, trailed the top two with a 0.4.

Among the new court shows, Jerry Springer’s Judge Jerry jumped 11% to a 1.0, overruling Personal Injury Court and Protection Court at a 0.5 and a 0.3, respectively.

Meanwhile, magazine hopeful Central Ave averaged a weighted 0.8/2 in its metered markets for week two of a five-week test run which began Nov. 4. That was down 27% from both its lead-in and year-ago time periods.

The week’s top-rated daytime talk shows in the women 25-54 demo were:

  • Dr. Phil (1.1, +10% from the week before)
  • Live with Kelly and Ryan (0.9, -10%)
  • Ellen DeGeneres (0.8, -20%)
  • Wendy Williams (0.7, unchanged)
  • Kelly Clarkson (0.6, unchanged), tied with Maury (0.6, unchanged)
