NBCUniversal Local Chicago Names Matt Knutson VP Of Multiplatform Content

NBCUniversal Local Chicago (WMAQ, WSNS and NBC Sports Chicago) has hired Matt Knutson as VP of multiplatform content beginning Monday, Aug. 15. In this role, he will spearhead the strategy and development of non-news content across the triopoly’s owned platforms and streaming apps.

Kevin Cross, NBCUniversal Local Chicago president and general manager, said: “We are thrilled to have Matt on the team. With his wealth of experience, he will round out our commitment to quality local content by focusing on the programming for our new channels and streaming opportunities in the space between news and sports.”

A nine-time regional Emmy Award winner, Knutson brings production experience in community specials, live events, talk show programming and more. Most recently, he was the director of content innovation for WLS Chicago where he produced a Hulu docuseries Being Blago and also helped launch the Localish network on digital platforms. Knutson was previously the executive producer of Windy City LIVE.

In 2010, while at Tribune Broadcasting, he co-created and launched the food TV show Chicago’s Best. He is a native of Joliet, Ill., and a Northern Illinois University graduate.
