Blackbird Expands To More U.S. TV Stations With BLOX Digital

Blackbird, seller of the cloud native video editing platform of the same name, says it has been deployed to a further two U.S. TV stations for digital news production following the latest BLOX Digital (formerly TownNews) deployment. The stations, based in Idaho and Mississippi, are both part of the Imagicomm Communications group. This is one of multiple expansions of Blackbird by BLOX Digital since the partnership began in 2018.

Blackbird is used collaboratively to remotely access, edit and publish news content fast to social, web and other digital platforms. When paired with the BLOX Digital’s BLOX VMS, the latest news stories can be delivered to viewers with unbeatable speed and control, leveraging Blackbird’s professional-grade tool set for advanced video editing in a browser. Blackbird is used across more than 70 TV stations in 35 states in the U.S.

Local news stations remain the most trusted source of news for over 70% of US adults with 86% sourcing all news from digital devices. Over 700 TV stations across the United States generate 6.6 hours of local news content daily and over $36 billion annual revenue in advertising and retransmission fees. The Blackbird partnership with BLOX Digital “provides unparalleled benefits to local TV stations allowing near real time video editing with delivery, providing speed, flexibility and universal access to content teams across America,” the company said.
