Hanno Basse Confirmed As SMPTE Media Technology Summit Keynote Speaker

Hanno Basse

SMPTE has set Hanno Basse as the keynote speaker for the 2023 SMPTE Media Technology Summit. Basse is the chief technology officer of Digital Domain and has more than 30 years of industry experience.

Prior to his position at Digital Domain, Basse was CTO of Microsoft Azure Media and Entertainment. His time there was spent spearheading collaborative efforts on content production/postproduction workflows for studios, implementing cloud and AI technology, and interacting with various partners and industry groups to ensure production specifications.

Basse is also the former CTO of 20th Century Fox Film Corp. While there, he was instrumental in implementing cutting-edge technologies like high-dynamic range and Ultra HD, driving the film industry’s technological advancement to new heights.

Before that, he was the senior vice president of Broadcast Systems Engineering for DirecTV, where he oversaw the organization’s transition to HD and pioneered its video-on-demand infrastructure, setting new standards for the broadcast industry.
