Witbe to Show Automated Set-Top Box Testing & Monitoring Tech At SCTE Cable-Tec Expo

At SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2023 (Oct. 16-19, Denver), Witbe will showcase its powerful automated testing and proactive monitoring technology. In Booth 916, the company will demonstrate the benefits of its products and services to cable video service providers and set-top box manufacturers looking to measure the quality of experience (QoE) that their customers receive. Highlights in Denver will include the company’s new Ad Monitoring and Matching technology, recent additions to the Witbe Software Suite, and the complete Witbox product lineup.

“We’re excited to be back on the show floor at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, a unique event that brings the cable industry together for a forward-thinking look at the media landscape,” said Marie-Véronique Lacaze, Witbe president and co-founder. “Visitors to Witbe’s booth will see how our automated testing technology can assist with every step of the video delivery process — from early QA testing to live service monitoring — and how our latest updates increase the accessibility and efficiency that Witbe is known for.”

Taking center stage will be Witbe’s Ad Monitoring and Matching technology, which helps resolve issues caused by dynamic ad insertion. This process — relied on by many set-box manufacturers to insert ads on top of cable streams — often leads to video errors, including the original cable ads beginning to play before the dynamically inserted ads take over. Witbe’s technology tests and monitors these errors on real set-top boxes, allowing manufacturers, advertisers, and providers to measure the exact ad performance received by viewers at home. Witbe also provides video recordings to confirm ad delivery and secure revenue from third-party advertisers.

Witbe’s Ad Monitoring and Matching technology is complemented by the Witbe Software Suite, which includes Workbench for scripting automated tests with ease; the Remote Eye Controller (REC) application for remotely monitoring and controlling real devices in the field; and Smartgate for sending live service alerts and analyzing the results of automated tests. All of Witbe’s technology runs on the company’s Witbox line of testing devices, which will also be on display at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo.

Also on display will be:

Script Test Scenarios Faster with AI Algorithms — Witbe will showcase recent updates to the Witbe Software Suite that have allowed teams to script test scenarios up to 10 times faster. These will include the Smart Navigate AI algorithm, a new addition to Witbe’s Workbench software that uses machine learning to automatically understand menu structures without scripting. The result is a dramatic reduction in the amount of time spent updating test scenarios after video app menus have been altered. Workbench’s Script Writer feature has also been updated to include preconfigured scenarios with set contexts and KPIs for each of Witbe’s popular use cases.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Test Voice Control Search on Android TV-Powered Devices — With more than 150 companies worldwide using Google’s Android TV OS to power their set-top boxes, monitoring video performance on the service has become essential. Witbe’s specialized Android TV testing use case helps set-top box manufacturers measure their users’ QoE, monitor performance across OS updates, and make sure their content is being properly indexed. At SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2023, Witbe will demonstrate its updated testing capabilities for Android TV’s voice control search function, which allow testers to automatically verify that their content is being indexed through voice control search results in the same way as traditional search results on the platform.

The Complete Testing Device Lineup — Witbe’s Witbox product family packs the company’s reliable automated testing and monitoring technology into a compact, accessible package that is simple to set up. At SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2023, Witbe will display its entire Witbox lineup on the show floor. The line includes the WitboxOne for testing any real device; the Witbox+ for testing four 4K devices at once; and the WitboxNet, which is capable of testing web browsers and applications. All three models will be shown in live demonstrations on the show floor throughout the event.
