Talk Shows Celebrate In Week Ending July 11
Some of syndication’s biggest talkers sparkled in the Independence Day holiday week session ending July 11, with all of the top three shooting up. Live with Kelly and Ryan ballooned its lead in the talk show race by winning for the ninth week in a row with a 6% surge from the prior fame to a 1.7 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating.
Dr. Phil was sharp as usual, strengthening 7% to a three-week high 1.5 with five previously aired episodes.
Wendy Williams was also a hot ratings topic, jumping 11% to a 1.0.
Conflict talker Maury maintained a 0.9 for the fifth consecutive week.
Recently renewed sophomore Kelly Clarkson was right behind at a 0.8, tying Ellen DeGeneres, which eroded 11% to a 0.8.
Judge Judy, which will vacate the first-run bench next month, manhandled the court shows for a 1,294th straight week, spiking 6% to a three-week high 5.0 and ranking as the second-highest show on the entire syndication chart.
BRAND CONNECTIONS
In access, Family Feud continued to crush the game shows, cleaning up in the category for the 12the week in a row and topping all of syndication with a 4% advance to a 5.6.
Jeopardy, with a second weekly operation for guest host Dr. Sanjay Gupta, sank 4% to a 4.7, but still rolled over Wheel of Fortune, which was flat at a 4.5.

- Live with Kelly and Ryan (0.7, unchanged from the week before)
- Dr. Phil (0.5, unchanged), tied with Wendy Williams (0.5, +25%)
- Kelly Clarkson (0.4, unchanged), tied with Ellen DeGeneres (0.4, unchanged) and Maury (0.4, unchanged)
