ABC App Gets You Moving In The A.M.

The free iPhone and iPod Touch alarm clock app, available through the iTunes Store, also features custom wake-up tracks from station anchors.

ABC Owned Television Stations Group today began the rollout of  an iPhone and iPod Touch alarm clock app that includes headlines, weather, live radar and traffic reports.

The free app, available through the iTunes Store, also features custom wake-up tracks from station anchors.

The first station to offer the locally branded app is KTRK Houston.

ABC’s seven others stations  – WABC New York, KABC in Los Angeles, WLS Chicago, WPVI Philadelphia, KGO San Francisco, WTVD Raleigh-Durham and KFSN Fresno — will introduce the app over the next few weeks.

“The Alarm Clock app is ideal for the growing numbers who turn to the small screens of an iPhone or an iPod touch first thing in the morning for news and information,” said Carla Carpenter, SVP, digital media, for the group. “This makes the trusted content gathered by our top-rated stations even more accessible to the people we serve.”

The free app offers three different wake-up options.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Users can choose custom tracks recorded by the stations’ on-air talent or from a variety of alarm tones ranging from a traditional alarm tone to a waterfall or even a rooster crowing. They can also opt to wake up to music by selecting a favorite song from their personal iTunes libraries.
