Continuing NetNewsCheck’s Essential Mission

NetNewsCheck may have ceased opertion, but you’ll find key digital media stories affecting broadcasters and TV news as part of the expanded role of TVNewsCheck. NetNewsCheck Editor Michael Depp joins the TVNewsCheck team.

The digital media torch has been passed from NetNewsCheck to TVNewsCheck.

TVNewsCheck’s sister service NetNewsCheck ceased operation yesterday. So, beginning today, look for more daily stories and links to major happenings in the media ecosystem that may not originate in the broadcast television world, but have a major, undeniable impact on its ecosystem.

That means more content about social media platforms, Google, OTT, advertising technologies and other topics that filled the pages of NetNewsCheck.

Broadcasters aren’t just competing with each other on the video front. Now they have pureplay sites and newspapers producing daily video content aimed squarely at many of the same audiences and ad dollars. When those stories matter, you’ll find them here.

The media’s evolution is happening fast. More than ever, TVNewsCheck is your best, continuously updated read to stay on top of it.

Michael Depp, the editor of NetNewsCheck, has joined TVNewsCheck to work on in-depth features and special projects.

This is great overall, as traditionalist subscribers and GMs will see digital integrated into their news…and not Balkanized. Blending digital into core culture is an important step for industries. Catalogers who saw digital as a competitor to print… mall stores who saw online as a competing channel… eventually every industry integrates and stops calling it “digital”… As much as I’ll miss NetNewsCheck… I’m psyched to see digital finally be part of simply “TV News”…. First step toward recovery…
