Dish CEO: We’re Prepared To Drop Viacom
Dish CEO Charlie Ergen said his company was prepared to drop Viacom channels permanently if the satellite provider can’t reach a deal on fees with the programmer. “We’re prepared to move on as Suddenlink and others have done without the content,” he said, speaking on a call with analysts to discuss quarterly results.

A loss of a bunch of trash channels…no one would miss MTV (Moron TV)
Not surprised. Money for clearances and content trump the uniqueness of cable back at it’s start.
the big monkey for everyone is how do you stand out when people get 400 to 600 channels.
My T Warner channel guide had 6 sections to it. I dumped T Warner got a solid big ass ant & the HDTV is awesome. For the occasional time we miss cable we have the skinny sling TV from dish but we are 80 % OTT Netflix etc and rest OTA.
WE are typical. The lock on viewers of cable & Big 4 is sooooo over.
Local advertisers do not get the BIG response to a BIG 4 TV ad anymore the audience has splintered to bits !!!
Will anyone on Dish but a few stoners on welfare miss Viacom, I doubt it !!! Good riddance !!!
Dish set their rates for 2016 last quarter. You think they will reduce your bill after dropping Viacom? Likewise, think they will raise your bill immediately if/when they sign a new deal? Interesting. Follow the money to the MVPD pocket, no matter what.
DROP DISH NETWORK….. JOIN DIRECT TV. I’ve never had a problem with clearances or dropped channels. If they ever merge, I’ll go to my power company . They’re allowed to offer channels just like cable providers. DISH Network will never have my business. EVER.
