WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

Downer Of A Week For Talk Shows

Live with Kelly & Michael and Dr. Oz were the only major week-to-week gainers in the genre, which was hit with multiple disruptions in the week ending Oct. 26.

Many syndicated strips took a breather in the week ending Oct. 26 as preemptions for three World Series games and bulletins about the Ottawa terrorist attack, the Washington state high school shootings and the first New York Ebola case caused severe disruptions.

For example, only two of the top 10 talkers were up from the week before — Live with Kelly & Michael and Dr. Oz. Live, the second highest rated talk show after Dr. Phil, was up 4% for the week and 12% from last year at this time, to a 2.9, marking its best start of a season in seven years.

Oz improved 7% to a 1.5, its strongest rating since the week of Sept .29.

Phil was the top talker for the eighth straight week, dipping a tenth to a 3.1, but still up 3% from last year. Phil also led all talk shows among women 25-54.

Among this season’s closely watched syndication rookies, Hot Bench was easily first in households for the sixth week in a row, holding firm at its season-high 1.5.

Celebrity Name Game, despite numerous access clearances, was second with an unchanged 1.2.
