FCC Commissioners To Testify On Hill

Sen. John Thune has slotted the oversight hearing for 10 a.m. on Sept. 15 with all of the commissioners listed as witnesses.

All five FCC commissioners will head to Capitol Hill later this month. Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.), chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, will convene an oversight hearing on Thursday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m., that will, the committee says, “will have a broad scope covering every aspect of the agency and major policy issues before the commission.”

“With the FCC considering significant new rules affecting consumer privacy, cable service through set-top boxes, and other issues impacting our economy, effective collaboration and informed decision making at the commission couldn’t be more important,” said Thune. “This hearing presents an opportunity to discuss concerns about partisanship affecting commission work and to raise issues on important policy questions under consideration this fall.”

All five commission members — Chairman Tom Wheeler, Mignon Clyburn, Michael O’Rielly, Ajit Pai and
Jessica Rosenworcel — are scheduled as witnesses.

This hearing will take place in Senate Russell Office Building, Room 253. Witness testimony, opening statements, and a live video of the hearing will be available at www.commerce.senate.gov.

I love watching Ajit Pai contradict Tom Wheeler’s rose-colored spin with the cold facts at these hearings. ‘Give ’em hell, Ajit.’
