Fox Television Stations Expands ‘The Jason Show’ To WFLD Chicago For Summer Run

The Jason Show, a local daily entertainment talk show produced at KMSP-WFTC Minneapolis will now also seen on WFLD Chicago for the summer.

The Jason Show will expand to the Chicago audience, announced Marian Davey, senior vice president and general manager of the Fox-owned duopoly in Minneapolis. The hour-long, entertainment and talk show will debut on Fox-owned WPWR on June 5 and air weekdays at 11 a.m. through Aug. 11.

The Jason Show launched on KMSP Minneapolis in August 2015, where it still airs weekdays at 10 a.m. and repeats on WFTC at 1 p.m. Over the past eight years, it has expanded its reach to Eau Claire Wis.; LaCrosse Wis.; Rochester Minn.; Duluth, Minn.; and most recently, the Fox O&O in Seattle, KZJO. The show had additional limited runs on Fox O&Os in Los Angeles, Dallas and Phoenix.

Hosted by KMSP entertainment news anchor and popular radio host, Jason Matheson, the program moves quickly through segments, ranging from “Hot Dish” to Hollywood. He interviews celebrities and invites experts into the studio to share their tips on food, fitness and fashion. Popular segments will continue, such as “Fish out of Water,” where Matheson goes beyond his comfort zone to attempt the unexpected, from signing up for a Civil War reenactment, to learning woodworking, and working at the zoo for a day.

In addition, for this limited summer run, the Chicago native will produce a series of stories that Spotlight Chicago and connect the Windy City to the Twin Cities and the rest of the Midwest.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Prior to the local launch of The Jason Show, Matheson held multiple positions at the station. He joined KMSP in 2000 as producer for the daily entertainment segment, “The Buzz,” which aired throughout the station’s 9 p.m. newscast. He quickly became an on-air presence during “Good Day Minnesota,” providing pop culture reports and interviewing Hollywood’s biggest stars for the morning program.

In 2009, when KMSP launched the entertainment news program, Fox 9 Buzz, Matheson was named co-host, as well as co-host for the early morning hours of the Fox 9 Morning News. He also currently co-hosts the morning drive time radio show, Jason & Alexis with Alexis Thompson, on KTMY-FM. Earlier, Matheson was an entertainment reporter for WCCO Minneapolis.

If I wrote this, I would change it to reflect the actual station that’ll be airing the program which is WPWR.

Saying that WFLD will pick it up on the headline and first paragraph, yet it will air on WPWR instead, will lead to some confusion.
