Gray Deploying TVU Networks IP ENG Units

Gray Television is deploying the TVUPack for sending back news video from the field via cellular networks and WiFi and WiMax links at all 36 of its stations, said TVU Networks announced today.

The TVUPack is housed in an aluminum backpack weighing just over 11 pounds, can store up to 12 hours of video and can run on AC or up to four hours on hot-swappable, dual battery packs.

“Gray Television is committed to providing our stations with innovative technologies that enable them to be first on the scene for breaking news and live events and better serve their viewers ,” said James Ocon, vice president of technology, Gray Television, in a prepared statement.

“After evaluating several options, we selected TVUPack because it provides an easy-to-use system with superior picture quality – even in HD,” he added.

According to TVU Networks, TVUPack is powered by TVU’s proprietary Inverse StatMux technology, which dynamically segments a live video signal and transmits the segments through multiple independent 3G/4G/WiFi/WiMax connections.

TVUPack provides broadcasters with low-latency, HD-quality signal that enables them to broadcast live at any time and from any location, is said.

“Television stations, news agencies, and freelance video crews around the globe have turned to TVUPack for its ability to go live with the push of a button and provide superior picture quality. TVUPack provides customers with a cost-effective uplink solution that provides the flexibility to bring new and innovative content that their audiences demand,” said Paul Shen, CEO of TVU Networks.
