WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Judge Judy’ Continues Her Court Show Reign

It’s the only courtroom to report a week-to-week rise in the session ending Oct. 22 (to a 6.7) and marked the show's 1,100th straight week atop the genre.

The session ending Oct. 22 marked a milestone for Judge Judy, which was the No. 1 court show for the 1,100th consecutive week, or every week for more than 21 years.

Judy was the sole courtroom to move up, pulling a three-week high 6.7 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen, which was nearly triple the rating of Hot Bench, the next-highest gaveler, which is also a Judge Judy creation. In addition, Judy was the No. 1 show in syndication, a distinction it has held nine times in the past 10 weeks.

Elsewhere in daytime, Dr. Phil led the talkers for the 59th week in a row, despite dipping to a 3.4.

Live with Kelly and Ryan jumped into undisputed possession of second place in talk with a 5% gain to a 2.3, its highest rating in more than five months.

Ellen DeGeneres dropped to third with a flat 2.2.

In first-run rookie action, Daily Mail TV maintained its top ranking for the fifth straight week and was the most-watched newcomer, with a first-place 1.0, and more than 1.3 million daily viewers.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Page Six TV was not far behind with a 0.7 in households and a 0.5 among women 25-54, which tied Daily Mail for first place in the key demo.

For the most recent session, Page Six hit a four-week high 1.1 rating/9 share among women 25-54 in top market New York, where it was up 83% over what Inside Edition did last year in the demo on WNYW on noon.

Rounding out the new shows, Funny You Should Ask fell 20% to a 0.4 national rating, with a 0.2 in the demo, while Pickler & Ben was unchanged with a 0.3 in households and a 0.2 among women 25-54.

In access, most magazines were lower in the last full frame before the important November sweeps period. In fact, only two managed to resist declines: leader Entertainment Tonight and veteran challenger Extra, which both held steady at 3.0 and 1.2, respectively.

The week’s top-rated daytime talk shows in the women 25-54 demo were:

  • Dr. Phil (1.4, unchanged from the week before)
  • Ellen DeGeneres (1.0, -9%), tied with Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.0, unchanged) and Maury (1.0, +11%)
  • Wendy Williams (0.9, unchanged)
  • Steve Wilkos (0.7, -13%), tied with Jerry Springer (0.7, unchanged)

In the household rating rankings that follow, % change is from the previous week; * indicates a new season-high rating; ** indicates a new season low; NC indicates no change from the previous week; NA mean not applicable.
