With her CBS Evening News contract about to expire, the news anchor considers her options at three different companies, conceivably playing roles within both syndication and news units.
Katie Couric Considering Daytime Options
Katie Couric is mulling a move to daytime television, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal (subscription required).
Couric’s contract with CBS Evening News expires in June, and she’s reportedly in discussions with CBS Corp., NBC Universal and Time Warner about alternatives. Each company is involved in both TV news as well as syndication. Because a daytime syndication show is unlikely to launch until next year, Couric could retain exposure through a news division.
The anchoring gig at CBS Evening News has provided Couric with an annual salary of $15 million a year, according to press reports.
