KCRG Launches New HD News Set

ABC affiliate KCRG Cedar Rapids, Iowa (DMA 89), launched a new, state-of-the-art HD news set designed by the Devlin Design Group.

The new set features a 260-inch wide rear projection screen as well as the “KCRG-TV9 Touchpoint,” interactive touch screen. At 112-inches wide, the Touchpoint is the largest interactive touch screen of its kind in the U.S. and third largest in the world, according to the station. The large touch screen will be used for weather and as other interactive storytelling.

“We are very proud to have launched our local news broadcasts in high definition with a brand new and exciting state-of-the art news set from Devlin Design Group” said Paul R. Staman, senior director-operations, Source Media Group.

Another design element is a diffused acrylic panel design in the station’s weather center. The diffused acrylic panel, with its’ custom etch-lite graphics, conceals the weather center work stations but keeps the staff close to the action in times of severe weather.
