WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

‘Live With Kelly’ Is Week’s Sole Syndie Gainer

All the others in first-run were flat or down in the week ending Feb. 19, the second full week of the February sweep.

Live with Kelly was the only first-run strip on the upswing in the session ending Feb. 19, a frame in which many shows lost ground after being partially preempted by coverage of the president’s Feb. 15 press conference with Israeli President Netanyahu. It was also the second full week of the important February sweep.

Live grew 4% in households to a 2.4 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, and jumped into second place in talk, outperforming Ellen DeGeneres, which slipped 4% to a third-place 2.3.

Meanwhile, Live’s annual “After Oscar” special on Feb. 27 gave the show its second highest single day numbers of the season — a 3.1 rating/11 share primary run, weighted metered market average, up 24% from its prior four-week average.

Back in the nationals for the week ending Feb. 19, top talker Dr. Phil gave back 5% from the season high it set the week before, but easily led the category for the 24th straight session with a 3.8. Compared to last year at this time, Phil was the only talker ahead by double digits, improving 12%.

In access, all of the game shows declined week to week:

  • Leader Family Feud slipped 3% to 7.5.
  • Wheel of Fortune fell 4% to a 6.7.
  • Jeopardy dropped 6% to a 6.4.
  • Who Wants to Be a Millionaire lost 6% to a 1.6.
  • Celebrity Name Game was off 7% to a 1.4.

Elsewhere, the traditional entertainment magazines got nice boosts from next-day coverage of the 89th Academy Awards on Feb. 27.
