WEEKLY SYNDICATED RATINGS REPORT

Mags Get Some Of Emmy Awards’ Luster

Coverage of the festivities helps the entertainment mags record some viewing gains in the week leading up to the long Labor Day weekend.

Next-day coverage of the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards gave a boost to the four top entertainment news magazines in an otherwise quiet pre-holiday week ending Aug. 31.

Entertainment Tonight saw a 13% increase with its Emmy coverage to a first-place 3.4 on Tuesday, Aug. 26, compared to the prior week. Compared to Monday, Aug. 25, ET surged 17%.
Extra jumped 15% from the prior week to a 1.5 on Tuesday. Compared to Monday when it suffered massive preemptions due to the Emmy telecast, Extra rocketed 88%.

Access Hollywood earned a 7% bump to a 1.5 with its post-Emmy show on Tuesday, and it was up 150% from the heavily preempted prior day.

The Insider gained 15% from the week before, to 1.3 for its Tuesday post-Emmy coverage.

For the full week, Extra and The Insider had the most improvement, growing 8% and 9%, respectively, from the previous session.

Judge Judy, although still in reruns, easily extended its winning streak as syndication’s highest-rated show overall to 23 consecutive weeks with a 6.6, climbing 5% from the week before.

Queen Latifah had the biggest week-to-week advance among the talkers, jumping 13% to a 0.9.

It also soared 140% in Tampa, Fla., among many other strong cities.
