New Highs For ‘Crime Watch,’ ‘Maury,’ ‘TMZ’

Crime Watch Daily with Chris Hansen and Maury were the only shows in daytime to hit new season highs, and were two of the brighter spots in the otherwise slow session ending Oct. 9.

Crime Watch had the best improvement in talk, jumping 11% for the week and also growing 11% from last year, to a 1.0 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, the biggest annual increase among the 14 strips in the category.

Maury gained 7% to a 1.6, but declined 6% from the same week one year ago.

Also moving up was Wendy Williams, which added 7% to a 1.5 and was even with last year.

Dr. Phil dipped 6% to a 3.2, but rose 7% from last year and was easily the highest-rated talker for the fifth straight week. Among women 25-54, Phil again won handily with a 1.5 in the key demo.

Live with Kelly took second place with a steady 2.4 household rating, while Ellen DeGeneres was third with an unchanged 2.2.

On the rookie front, promising newcomer Harry maintained its 1.3 score and moved ahead of veterans Rachael Ray and Jerry Springer, both of which dropped 8% to a 1.2.

Judge Judy was syndication’s most dominant performer overall for the 10^th week in a row, despite easing 3% to a still-potent 6.7.

Family Feud fell 3% to a 6.3 and was next in line after Judy, followed by Wheel of Fortune, which lost 5% to a 6.0, and Jeopardy, which slipped 3% to a 5.7.

The week’s top-rated daytime talk shows in the women 25-54 demo were:

• Dr. Phil (1.5, -6% from the week before)
• Live with Kelly (1.2, unchanged)
• Ellen DeGeneres (1.1, unchanged)
• Wendy Williams (1.0, +11%), tied with Maury (1.0, +11%)
• Steve Wilkos (0.9, +13%)
