Rentrak Releases Stickiness Rankings

The stickiness index, which measures engagement, shows some wide disparities with ratings rankings. For example, Univision's El Triunfo del Amor, is No. 5 in stickiness, but No. 82 in ratings.

Rentrak Corporation released the “Stickiness Index” for the week ending March 13, 2011. The Stickiness Index lists the top-20 primetime programs based not only on the size of the audience, but also the level of viewer engagement. The broadcast ratings rankings and stickiness rankings can vary wildly. For example, not surprisingly the two-hour telecast of Fox’s American Idol is ranked No. 1 in stickiness and No.2 in the ratings. But CBS’s Blue Bloods, No. 2 in stickiness, is No. 17 in ratings.

What follows is a list of the other top stickiness rankings, with ratings rankings in parenthesis: No. 3, NBC’s Law & Order: Los Angeles (57); No. 4, CBS’s The Mentalist (6), No. 5 Univision’s El Triunfo del Amor (82); No. 6, CBS’s CSI: New York (19); No. 7, Fox’s American Idol 60-minute telecast (1); No. 8, CBS’s CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (7); No. 9, Univision’s Eva Luna (79), and No. 10, CBS’s NCIS: Los Angeles (15).
