Sinclair Plans To Add 300-Plus New Jobs
Sinclair Broadcast Group says it will add 367 new jobs over the next six years through an aggressive expansion of its Hunt Valley, Md., operations. The nation’s largest broadcaster says it will invest $12 million into its headquarters and hopes to have 700 full-time employees in Baltimore County by the end of 2023. Sinclair is in the midst of a growth plan, which includes a planned $3.9 billion acquisition of Tribune Media Co.

Is that including cleaning house of the underperforming Tribune personnel ???
And 500+ job losses at the stations.
What they need to do is to downsize or redirect their corporate personnel so that they are not so top heavy and put more resources and decision making power on the local markets. They have got departments that should be shut down and resources should be placed at the local level. The local entities know what works best in local markets, not Baltimore staff and people who have never operated or worked at a local station. The battle is in the field, not at corporate HQ.
I couldn’t agree with you more. Their GMs are powerless and have very few resources.
Adding 61 Jobs each year for 6 years at the corporate headquarters – while cutting to the bone at their stations. And this is this good for the local markets they “serve”??? I smell further centralization which serves no one other than their top executives and their bank accounts.
Eagleeye you said it very well…. This has been a problem for the past 10 + years with groups such as Sinclair and Nexstar. However I do not see it changing and they continue to add to the corporate management team with all of these regional vps that now tell sales, news and general managers how to run the daily operation plus they do all of the business office and traffic at another location. Centralization saves them operational costs and with that money they pay corporate people more money. Local is really Baltimore for Sinclair…
No doubt they’ll have to expand the HQ to add room for Pai(d).
Clean out the news departments and go virtual,, No one watches local news anymore so who cares!!
