Sinclair-Tribune Could Boost Partisan News
I worry that as we focus on Russian bots on Twitter influencing elections, we’re ignoring a bigger threat to democracy and the political process right here at home: the proposed merger of Sinclair Broadcast Group with Tribune Media Co. Imagine what could happen to politics if Sinclair becomes the dominant local news gatekeeper.

Breaking News, you heard it here first folks
It would only even out the biased reporting of NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC etc etc.
DUH.
All you need to do is watch a news program for a station that Sinclair bought. It starts subtly with comments that otherwise would be outrageous – like the Oscar screw up was a liberal conspiracy theory (said on WJAR TV Providence). Or a popular viral picture is controversial (all other media outlets just said it went viral). Those are the subtle tilts. Then there is low cred Boris Epsteyn, way biased Mark Hyland and of course the “terrorism desk”…..
This is rapidly becoming a moot point. Most folks (under 70) have abandoned all local TV news over the past ten years. Sinclair stations will feed the Trump base their daily red meat, and the Earth will continue to spin.
