WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

Solid Sweeps Start For Some Syndies

First-run shows with week-to-week gains as the November ratings period gets underway included rookies Daily Mail TV and Funny You Should Ask. Others moving up included talkers Dr. Phil, Ellen and Rachael Ray as well as several in the court, game and magazine genres.

The session ending Oct. 29 was especially important as it included the first two weekdays of the crucial November sweep, and several daytime shows got off to a flying start.

The standout among the closely watched newcomers was Daily Mail TV, which jumped 10% to a new series high 1.1 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, and led all new first-run entries for a sixth straight week.

Mail delivered a 22% improvement from its September premiere week to its highest rating ever and ranked as the 23rd highest first-run strip in syndication, tied with Doctor Oz.

The second-highest newcomer, Page Six TV, did well to maintain its 0.7 despite being very heavily preempted by the first three World Series games. Further back, Funny You Should Ask rebounded 25% to a 0.5, while Pickler & Ben was unchanged at a 0.3.

Turning to the veterans, Dr. Phil widened its lead in talk with a 6% jump to a new season high 3.6 and easily topped the field for the 60th week in a row.

Next in line, Live with Kelly and Ryan, which was steady, and Ellen DeGeneres, which perked up 5% to a new season high, both landed at a second-place 2.3.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Also moving up in the rankings was Steve Harvey’s new Steve, which spiked 8% to a 1.4, matching its season high and tying Maury and Wendy Williams for fourth place among the 15 talk shows.

In courtroom action, Judge Judy surged 6% to a five-week high 7.1 and was the No. 1 syndicated show overall for the 10th time in 11 weeks with more than 10 million daily viewers.

Also coming up big was Judy creation Hot Bench, which leaped 13% to a new season high 2.6 and was the third-highest show in daytime behind only Judge Judy and Dr. Phil for the 18th time in 19 weeks.

The week’s top-rated daytime talk shows in the women 25-54 demo were:

  • Dr. Phil (1.5, +7% from the week before)
  • Ellen DeGeneres (1.1, +10%)
  • Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.0, unchanged)
  • Maury (0.9, -10%), tied with Wendy Williams (0.9, unchanged)
  • Steve Wilkos (0.8, +14%)
