Strong Outing For Rookie ‘Page Six TV’

Despite being preempted in numerous large markets by two games of the World Series, Page Six jumped 14% from the week before to move closer to freshman leader Daily Mail TV.

The first full week of the sweep was a big one for newcomer Page Six TV, which hit a new series high and narrowed the gap on rookie leader Daily Mail TV in the session ending Nov. 5.

Despite being preempted by Games 6 and 7 of the World Series in numerous large markets, Page Six jumped 14% from the week before to a 0.8 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, its best rating yet, while Daily Mail eased 9% from its series high the week before to a 1.0.

Among women 25-54 Page Six grew 25% to a 0.5, which tied Daily Mail for first place in the key demo.

Further back among the freshmen, Funny You Should Ask remained at a 0.5 in households and a 0.2 in the demo, while Pickler & Ben was unchanged at a 0.3 in households but dropped to a 0.1 among women 25-54.

In talk, Wendy Williams rose 14% to a nine-month-high 1.6 and took over sole possession of fourth place in a week that included her headline-making fainting episode on Oct. 31.

Dr. Phil led the talkers for a 61st straight week with a 3.5, dipping 3% from its prior session’s season high.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

In second place, Live with Kelly and Ryan shot to a new season high 2.4, fueled by a 2.7 for its annual Halloween show — which was its best individual day rating of the season — and remained tied with Ellen DeGeneres, which added 4% to a new season high 2.4.

Rounding out the top five among the 15 talkers were Steve Harvey’s new Steve, which matched its season-high 1.4 and tied veteran Maury, which was unchanged at a 1.4.

Outside of the top 10, The Real rallied 25% to a 1.0, its highest rating since January, and tied first-run true crime series leader Crime Watch Daily, which was steady at a 1.0.

Among magazines, Access Hollywood, which has been featuring extensive coverage of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, had the largest year-to-year improvement in the genre, growing 8% for both the week and year to equal its season-best 1.4. That earned a tie for third with TMZ, which also gained 8%, but fell 13% from last year.

Entertainment Tonight slipped 3% to a 3.0, but led the category, while Inside Edition was second with a steady 2.9.

At the top of the chart, Judge Judy was the No. 1 show overall for the 11th time in 12 weeks, although it gave back 3%, dipping to a nonetheless syndication-best 6.9.

The week’s top-rated daytime talk shows in the women 25-54 demo were:
