WEEKLY SYNDICATION RATINGS ROUNDUP

Strong Showings By Genre Leaders

The first-run shows at the top of the categories mostly were up in the week ending Nov. 12, with several posting double-digit increases.

Judge Judy was on fire in the session ending Nov. 12, exploding to a new season high at a nosebleed level 7.6 live-plus-same-day national Nielsen rating, with nearly 11 million viewers daily.

That was Judy’s greatest week in 10 months and a 10% increase over the prior frame. It was also a 7% improvement over last year’s strong showing, and the 30th time in the past 33 weeks that the courtroom queen handily ranked as the No. 1 show in syndication.

Family Feud gained 6% to a 6.7 and was tied for second place overall by Jeopardy, which began its annual Tournament of Champions and rose 12% to a new season high 6.7.

Also enjoying a big week at the midpoint of the November sweep was Dr. Phil, which pulled away from the talk show field with an 11% surge to a new season high 3.9, its strongest rating in nine months. That put Phil up 11% from last year and extended its winning streak atop the talkers to 62 weeks.

Ellen DeGeneres, with an unchanged 2.4, was a distant second with Live with Kelly and Ryan right behind at a 2.3, easing 4% from its season high.

The only talker besides Phil seeing double-digit growth was Harry, which jumped 25% among women 25-54, and grew 11% to a 1.0, its highest rating since May.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Among magazines, Inside Edition and Extra both leapt to new season highs, with Edition gaining 7% to a 3.1 to tie usual topper Entertainment Tonight for the lead, and Extra growing the most of any show in the genre, up 8% to a 1.3, its best rating in 36 weeks.

Turning to the top first-run newcomers, Daily Mail TV was the most watched, attracting more than 1.3 million viewers with a steady 1.0, which was up 11% from its September debut. Page Six TV, which has been gathering steam, maintained its series-high 0.8, outperforming its premiere by 14%.

The week’s top-rated daytime talk shows in the women 25-54 demo were:

  • Dr. Phil (1.6, +14% from the week before)
  • Ellen DeGeneres (1.2, unchanged)
  • Live with Kelly and Ryan (1.1, unchanged)
  • Maury (1.0, +11%)
