WTHR Names Kathy Hostetter News Director

The former news director of WAVE Louisville, Ky., joins Dispatch’s Indianapolis NBC affiliate.

Dispatch Broadcast Group’s NBC affiliate WTHR Indianapolis (DMA 26) announced today that Kathy Hostetter has been named news director effective May 6. Hostetter comes to WTHR from WAVE Louisville, Ky. She succeeds Keith Connors who left the station in late December of last year.

Hostetter previously was executive producer at WTHR from 1998 to 2002. She left WTHR in 2002 after being appointed news director at WISE Fort Wayne, Ind. In June of 2004, she moved to KNTV San Jose/San Francisco as executive producer.

Hostetter then spent nearly five years as news director of WAVY Portsmouth, Va., from November of 2005 through April of 2010.

Prior to joining WTHR as news director, she was news director of WAVE Louisville, Ky., assuming duties there in April of 2010.

Hostetter is a graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She began her television career at WKJG (now WISE) Fort Wayne, Ind., as a newscast producer.

I feel sad for the newsroom at WTHR. She presides over low morale and mediore ratings every place she works. If you don’t believe me ask anyone who’s worked with or for this idiot. There’s always a conspiratorial tone to her management style with suborndinates.
