WXIN Launches Job Creation Campaign

The Tribune Indianapolis Fox affil is urging Indiana businesses to follow its lead and create one new job each in an effort to reduce unemployment.

Tribune Broadcasting’s Fox affiliate WXIN Indianapolis (DMA 26) decided to take a stand against unemployment with its new Add One Job Campaign. The station is reaching out to Indiana businesses, coaxing them to add just one job to their workforce.

“Can you imagine if we all actually did it? All of us? Can you imagine the kind of effect that would have on our economy? Can you imagine how many Hoosiers would be put back to work?” Larry Delia, WXIN VP-GM, asked Wednesday.

“We want to see our people go to work,” he continued. “Fox59 is getting the ball rolling by adding a job to our ranks; not filling an existing vacancy, but creating a major new position. If you’re thinking about adding a job, do it now. If you’re not considering it, you need to start. We’re not asking a lot — just one job. But if we all get together and make it happen, we can have a massive change happen in this state, and it can happen starting today.”

The station has established a website (www.addonejob.com) for businesses to join the campaign, and will be featuring businesses that participate on Fox59 News. “We’re not going to stop,” said Delia, “until we have a real, positive change on the state of Indiana’s workforce. We’ve got good people who want to work — let’s put them to work.”
