ANWC TO HONOR C-SPAN’S BRIAN LAMB

The American News Women's Club will present its Helen Thomas Award to the cable network founder on Oct. 28 in Washington as part of its annual dinner/auction gala, which benefits a scholarship fund for journalists. Schieffer, Bohannon are also on the bill.

Here’s an opportunity to thank Brian Lamb for creating C-SPAN, support a good cause and, if you’re an aggressive bidder, have tea at the Russian Embassy.

The American News Women’s Club will present its Helen Thomas Award for Excellence in Journalism to Lamb as part of its annual Benefit Gala that will also feature dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions.

The event, slated for Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Fairmont Hotel in Washington, benefits a scholarship fund for young journalists.

CBS News Correspondent Bob Schieffer and Helen Thomas will handle the actual award presentation, and Westwood One radio talk show host Jim Bohannon will be the auctioneer.

Auction items include tea for 12 at the Russian embassy, other private embassy tours, restaurants, wine, signed books by journalists, overnights at the Red Fox Inn and eslewhere, a ski chalet in Utah, round trip air fares and much more.

The event runs from 7-11 p.m. Tickets are $100 for one, $175 for two. For tickets or more information, contact Randi Dutch at 202-332-6770 or [email protected].
